Creating invoices in foreign currencies
How to issue invoices in US dollars and other currencies and book them correctly.

Invoices in a foreign currency
In Norman you can issue invoices in currencies other than the euro, for example US dollars. The chosen currency appears on the invoice, and Norman shows the euro value for bookkeeping.
Conversion for bookkeeping
For bookkeeping and tax, the amount is converted to euros at the relevant rate. Norman records the rate as of the invoice date.
What to watch for
- For customers in the EU or non-EU countries, reverse charge may apply
Payment at a different rate
Your bank converts at its own rate. If the payment differs by no more than 3 % from the invoice's euro value, the invoice counts as paid, and you see one booking instead of two.
- If you are self-employed, the amount your bank booked counts.
- A GmbH or UG keeps the invoice's euro value. Norman books the difference on the payment day as an exchange gain or loss.
- If you enter a smaller amount yourself, the rest stays open.
